"When you open your mind and hands and heart to the knowing of a thing, there is no room in you for fear"

--Patricia McKillip, The Riddle-Master of Hed

I am going to start filtering some of my more private musings. Since blogger does not have a tool for that, you will need to visit my Live Journal and ask to be friended there. I will continue to post Daily Gratitude and other subjects here.

There is also a FAQ for my Journal at the same link.

getting "paid"

Well, I've been conflicted for months about this, but I finally added an amazon wishlist to the page. I know, I know. I should be supporting small stores, locally and online. However, amazon gives me the chance to have total strangers send me things I want without them learning my address or legal name. Being anonymous is a good thing -- at least for now.

There's also the whole issue of asking for money/presents as proof people enjoy my sites. I'm not asking, I'm just making it easy for those that do want to. I make no presumption that I'll ever get a single thing from my list, unless myself or boy purchase it ourselves. It's just gotten to a point where we'll probably not have the money to buy anything other than essentials for months to come. If someone out there has thought that they want to support us, this gives them the chance to do so without becoming a stalker. *g*

It comes down to this: I maintain two websites and boy has one (as of now). That's $15 a year per site to keep the domains, $15-20 a month for server space (depending on the traffic), plus $20 a month for our isp that lets us access the server and update the sites. When we're barely scraping by, the websites would be considered by most to be a luxury. However, they feed our need to express ourselves creatively and to communicate with the larger community. This is the one "luxury" we allow ourselves, so the only way we're getting any others is as gifts.

I did consider the subscription and pay pal options, where people could donate money to support the sites. That's just too commercial for me. I'd much rather have a surprise end up on my door someday when I'm not expecting it. A book or DVD that I've longed to have but won't be able to afford for months or years.

And you know, an e-mail from the strangers who've found either of my sites interesting and worthwhile would make me just as happy as any present. I know there have to be people reading that aren't already my personal friends. I'd like to connect with you.
