"When you open your mind and hands and heart to the knowing of a thing, there is no room in you for fear"

--Patricia McKillip, The Riddle-Master of Hed

I am going to start filtering some of my more private musings. Since blogger does not have a tool for that, you will need to visit my Live Journal and ask to be friended there. I will continue to post Daily Gratitude and other subjects here.

There is also a FAQ for my Journal at the same link.

Reading progress: I finished Leave A Light On For Me Sunday morning and started The Call of Service and Female Masculinity.

Cleaning progress: I got a good amount of cleaning done on Saturday, but pretty much nothing happened Sunday in that area. It barely made a dent in what needs to be done, but with boy's ankle still very tender and his hands worsening, there's only so much that can be done.

Shopping progress: We had to make a quick trip to Tar-gay (seriously, a good third of the employees at this particular store must be gay) to get a new house phone when the barely working one I bought in KS years ago decide it didn't want to dial out anymore. It was the first time boy braved going down the stairs on crutches and he did enjoy being outside for the first time since the accident. He even waited patiently in the car while I did a quick Safeway run for food for dinner and meals today. I haven't been able to motivate myself to do the household shopping without boy (usually we do it together over the weekend and then boy makes runs to additional stores during the workday). Tomorrow his "food stamp" card gets replenished and we'll be able to do the monthly stock up.

Service development: boy received an offer on Friday from j. We spent time Friday night and Saturday dicussing this offer and sent an e-mail in reply late Saturday night. We then spent Sunday formulating the specifics and called j last night to negotiate. The result is that j plans to arrive here tomorrow in the morning for a 7-10 day service contract. This is a one-time, limited agreement. She will help with cleaning, errands, pet care, chaufferring boy during the day, and a few projects that have been put on hold since boy's hands got bad in early June.

This will provide some much needed assistance in getting this apartment into better living shape and ease boy's mind about the amount of work I have to do around the house while he's recovering from his injury. It will also give him the chance to assume the "First boy" role of supervising someone else's service to my household. He will be responsible for her daily schedule and seeing that all tasks are completed while I'm at work. To that end, I ordered him to do the direct negotiating last night. As a switch, I know he's more than capable of getting the job done well.

Time for me to head to work. I'm sure there will be more written in both our journals over the next week. Much of our underlying philosophy and expectations for our future together will be tested as we have a temporary servant living with us and we'll, no doubt, explore some of the results in this forum.
