"When you open your mind and hands and heart to the knowing of a thing, there is no room in you for fear"

I am going to start filtering some of my more private musings. Since blogger does not have a tool for that, you will need to visit my Live Journal and ask to be friended there. I will continue to post Daily Gratitude and other subjects here.
There is also a FAQ for my Journal at the same link.

boy is watching the Tournament of Roses Parade. He's very much a parade afficianado. Not me so much, so I'm trying to get some computer stuff done.
Some other highlights from the trip to Kansas: finding a used set of luggage at Goodwill -- we managed to bring more stuff back from KS more efficiently (since one of the new bags held the carryon we'd used on the trip out there!). Cashing in on a used CD sale to get three discs for under $4.00(total, not each). Earmarking Xmas cash to buy a used dining table (now we just have to go find one). Discovering that we do air travel together well -- even with crutches & wheelchairs.
Update on reading:
With all that travel time, I read The Kitchen God's Wife by Amy Tan and Surrender the Pink by Carrie Fisher. I'm about to start Archangel by Robert Harris. Since my last reading update, I completed My Life as a Ten-Year-old Boy and been sampling Bitch Goddess (which I've read previously). Still have Female Masculinity and The Call of Service going as well. I think that's it, but I tend to sample books or grab one and read it quickly, so I may have missed some.
recently viewed movies:
boy and I caught "Runaway Bride" on regular cable last week. We were supposed to be going to bed early to be ready for the trip, but we got hooked on Richard Gere and just kept watching. It was pretty good. Yesterday we finally got to see "Underworld" at the discount theater. That's definitely going to require future viewings -- and buying the dvd. The theater was so very cold that it was a bit distracting, but the movie was compelling enough that we stuck it out. In recent weeks we've rented "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" (loved the ending), "Finding Nemo" (boy adored it), "Family Affair" (good writing, suprisingly amateur acting & editing for such an acclaimed film, but it was an independent shoe-string production), "Kissing Jessica Stein" (non-traditional from start to finish), "The Guru" (perfect for pop culture nuts like ourselves -- very funny).
As for the whole NYE thing -- we fell asleep watching TV, but managed to get up and watch the ball drop while lying in bed together -- followed by the local news broadcast of "Live"(one of boy's favorite bands) playing at the Tempe block party thingy. What few plans we had for celebrating (mostly involving some much needed SEX) fell by the wayside as we're both still recovering from the trip and just didn't have the energy. Neither of us made resolutions. We do have some specific plans for improving ourselves and our relationship, but those have more to do with where we are in our life and not about it being a new year. Now I just have to break down and go buy some calendars for 2004!
