"When you open your mind and hands and heart to the knowing of a thing, there is no room in you for fear"

--Patricia McKillip, The Riddle-Master of Hed

I am going to start filtering some of my more private musings. Since blogger does not have a tool for that, you will need to visit my Live Journal and ask to be friended there. I will continue to post Daily Gratitude and other subjects here.

There is also a FAQ for my Journal at the same link.

where we hope to be
Friday, January 16, 2004 @ 22:25

I'm in the midst of figuring out what vacation days to take this year. One of the perks of full-time employment is two weeks paid vacation. I have to turn in my requests by Friday, so boy and I have been discussing the best ways to divide up ten days. The result is consideration of what leather events we'll be able to attend.

As always, we'll be attending the local contests, and boy will most likely be volunteering for AZ Leather Sir & boy Contest and the SW Leather Sir & boy contest, both this summer. The SW boy gathering in March is being sponsored by PBoL, so of course, we won't miss that! In December, we'll both be involved in the SW Leather Conference. We also hope to attend the Butchman's Women's Weekend in April. The advantage of having an ever-expanding community here is that many events don't require travel or hotel for us -- and we'll both be volunteering for the Leather Leadership Conference in 2005.

Back to 2004. Very likely the only "away" event we'll be able to attend is Thunder in the Mountains in July -- and that will depend on finances and whether or not boy is able to get time off from whatever job he finds. I attended in 2002 and it was a wonderful weekend. I'd love to take boy, but I know that might not be possible.

If we had the disposable income, I'd also take him to LLC in New Orleans, IML, IMsL, Together in Leather, Wicked Womyn in Seattle, and, of course, the Southplains Leatherfest with the International Master & slave contest. Realistically, we can only afford places we can drive and in less than a day on the road. And if Thunder isn't possible, maybe we'll try to find a weekend trip to smaller events in LA or Vegas or New Mexico.

Between meetings, parties, and social events of the *five* organizations of which we are members/officers, we'll have fairly busy schedules this year, with or without national leather events.
