"When you open your mind and hands and heart to the knowing of a thing, there is no room in you for fear"

--Patricia McKillip, The Riddle-Master of Hed

I am going to start filtering some of my more private musings. Since blogger does not have a tool for that, you will need to visit my Live Journal and ask to be friended there. I will continue to post Daily Gratitude and other subjects here.

There is also a FAQ for my Journal at the same link.

update - from work

I wish I could blame my lack of entries on a single obstacle. It would certainly make it easier to get your sympathy -- not to mention make it easier for me to overcome said barrier and start posting again. No such luck. So. Rather than depressing myself with a laundry list of excuses, I'm just going to do a general update of my life, in no particular order.

Books
I finished the Beauty trilogy. I also read Archangel -- a real page-turner. I have to find out if the library system has Pompeii yet. When I checked at the first of the year, it was on order.

Movies
We plowed through "Eyes Wide Shut," the "American Pie" trilogy, "Cecil B DeMented," "Whale Rider," "Serial Mom," "Chicago," and a few tv broadcasts. We hope to see "Frida," "Sixth Sense," "To Die For," and a few other on our list to see before our discount card expires next week.

Computer pinball
Our new addiction. I pretended for a long time that pinball wasn't on my work computer (I've been an addict since middle school -- spending hours on the weekend playing pinball at the local skating rink). boy's new computer has it installed and a few weeks ago we both started playing. I think the high score he'd recorded when I first sat down to play was around 500,000. Within a few days I had set a high score over 5,000,000. As of last night the high score is held by boy at over 8,000,000. The lowest high score is over 5,000,000. We each play at least a few games a day and we play together as well. I never imagined that my M/s relationship would include my handing the cordless keyboard to boy so he can play his balls sitting on the floor next to my feet. We're not competitive (and, no, there's no rule that the boy must lose) and if you could eavesdrop, you'd hear lots of "good save, boy" and "way to go, Master!" and similar expressions during any given game.

Employment
boy has applied for a few jobs and got called in for interviews. Today he got his first temp assignment in over a year. This one is two days and then he has a three-day job scheduled for Saturday-Monday. While I'd still like him to find a regular job, with benefits, there is a definite appeal to temp work: I get to choose what shifts he does or doesn't work to fit my schedule and ensure he's free for events, vacations, etc. And there's the fact that if he's not employed, he may still be eligible for food stamps and health care, since no job lasts more than a few days, he has no guaranteed income. Then again, he has no guaranteed income and we need to start saving for future plans.
--since I'm typing this before work on Thursday, I have to stop now and get going (bus today since boy has the car). I'll transcribe what I wrote about my job later.
