"When you open your mind and hands and heart to the knowing of a thing, there is no room in you for fear"

--Patricia McKillip, The Riddle-Master of Hed

I am going to start filtering some of my more private musings. Since blogger does not have a tool for that, you will need to visit my Live Journal and ask to be friended there. I will continue to post Daily Gratitude and other subjects here.

There is also a FAQ for my Journal at the same link.

art & life update

I wanted to post some of the collages I did last week, but photo impact is buggy and boy is the only one who knows how to fix it. So that will have to wait. I will say that I've (finally!) started on the 3-D collage pieces I've wanted to do for quite awhile. One is tissue & found papers on a squarish glass/vase with magazine words overlaid. The second is found papers (all shades of blue, some with prints) on an aluminum canister (I think it was those wafer/chocolate rolled cookies). Since I had to treat the canister with gesso to cover the original artwork and then added a layer of paper and several layers of sealer, the lid no longer fits. I guess I'm going to have to figure out how to get around that on future pieces. I also laid a background for a conventional (i.e. flat) collage I want to do. At the moment it is an 11x14 posterboard covered in blue squares of various papers (different shades, some with patterns). I have a collage I'm going to build on top of it. I know some people might consider it a collage all by itself, but I like layers :)

As for the rest of life. I've put in a few resumes/applications in the last week and a half that I think would be very good jobs for me -- both challenging and interesting as well as financially rewarding. There are more I'm going to pursue this week. Any good luck energy you can send to help me get to the interview stage would be appreciated.

I'm moderating a panel discussion at APEX tonight on BDSM & Feminism. Arizona Amazons hosts one APEX Monday night each quarter. This is our presentation for this quarter. I don't consider mysElf any sort of expert on feminism, that's why I'm just putting together the panel and asking the questions. Still, it will be the first time I've presented to such a large group since I moved to Arizona. Most people don't know that I was active in public speaking in high school and have done presentations/panels/speeches/debates to audiences from ten people to several hundred. However, that was years ago and I'm a bit rusty. I felt that moderating would be a good start at APEX, since I want to do a presentation with boy later this year on a more personal subject. It will be good practice, right?

I just finished designing the website for the Arizona Leather Alliance. You can check it out at www.arizonaleatheralliance.com. There's still some tweaking to be done and I'll probably be changing to a different calendar server, but I have to get past this panel first. I'm also the Chair for the "10th Anniversary Black & Blue Bash" being put on by Arizona Amazons on September 30th. See my previous entry for details. Basically, these two together with the panel have been taking up a lot of my time...plus the job search, the housemate search, the art, and searching for another slave.....oh, and did I mention I finally got to read Harry Potter & the Half-blood Prince? I'm just waiting for boy to finish so we can discuss it!

Off to finish laundry and my notes for tonight. This afternoon we're meeting a woman from out of town who wants to join Amazons to answer her questions about bdsm, relationships, and the various groups here before going to the panel. It's going to be a full day :)
