"When you open your mind and hands and heart to the knowing of a thing, there is no room in you for fear"

--Patricia McKillip, The Riddle-Master of Hed

I am going to start filtering some of my more private musings. Since blogger does not have a tool for that, you will need to visit my Live Journal and ask to be friended there. I will continue to post Daily Gratitude and other subjects here.

There is also a FAQ for my Journal at the same link.

why climate is better

....weather sucks!

Before we moved I kept reassuring boy that we could go an entire winter in Kansas without having real snow or really cold temps -- it's been known to happen. "Normal" would mean a little bit of snow in Jan and Feb and temps down to the teens sometime after the new year. I also pointed out that tornado season is March-August, so he didn't have to worry. Of course, I had to be honest and point out that we'd had snow storms in October and tornados in November and February, but that that was "abnormal." So he can't say I didn't warn him.

We've been here about six weeks now. We've had temps in 80s with medium (high for us) humidity. We've had tornado watches and severe thunderstorm warnings. This morning we woke to snow, a 1.5 hour power outage, and the *current* temp is 7 degrees F (wind chill -5 F). The snow is supposed to be 3-6 inches when it's done and the temp isn't going above freezing until Friday or Saturday, so the snow will be here for awhile. And it's not like there was a gradual change! The tornado watch was less than 2 weeks ago.

I keep telling myself that this being weather-country, this could be one of those "freak" late autumn storms. By the time winter actually starts, we could still have a mild time of it. Or not. I miss Phoenix for so many reasons, the climate just being the icing on the cake.
