"When you open your mind and hands and heart to the knowing of a thing, there is no room in you for fear"

--Patricia McKillip, The Riddle-Master of Hed

I am going to start filtering some of my more private musings. Since blogger does not have a tool for that, you will need to visit my Live Journal and ask to be friended there. I will continue to post Daily Gratitude and other subjects here.

There is also a FAQ for my Journal at the same link.

New Year
Saturday, January 07, 2006 @ 14:05

Last week I was disappointed that a friend hadn't posted anything on her LJ in such a long time and realized how long it's been since I posted and figured standing in a glass house wasn't so smart...

When I injured my ankle the theory was that I'd have so much "free" time that I would be able to revamp my website, chat with friends online, jumpstart e-mail discussions and correspondence AND "catch up" by posting on the backlog of topics I'd wanted to address in my journal....oh! and I'd watch lots of movies from Netflix, create wonderful collage art pieces, and catalog old videotapes. It wasn't that I wanted to do too much, it was that my energy and mental processes where focused on healing -- both on resting my body physically and on exploring some spiritual paths and ideas that had been pushed aside in the busy-ness of life. The result: I read some books, watched lots of silly tv and left the house maybe four times in six weeks. Pretty exciting stuff. I'm sure you would have loved the play-by-play if I'd bothered to post it here.

There are a few things of interest to note since the beginning of December:

I now have an aircast that allows me to walk on the injured ankle -- using the crutches for balance & some weight-bearing.

I had a couple of job interviews this past week, one for a job that I think I'd enjoy, and am waiting to hear if I make the next round.

I got to meet someone at a MAsT-KC party who I had "met" online several years ago. Since that party, we have gotten together three more times and she's turning into a good friend and companion to us both -- with "potential" that may or may not go beyond friendship.

We received "Wonderfalls" (the tv series) on DVD for Xmas and have been enjoying watching the episodes. I also took some of our Xmas money and bought "Curtain Call" by Eninem and have been listening to the CD quite often the last week. We actually received a LOT of money from family members for Xmas (including a gas card from one of my aunts). We've spent it on everything from groceries to art supplies to gloves for boy and lunch out with a friend yesterday.

To recap 2006 so far:

Sunday we mostly nested. Monday we braved the post-New Years crowds to go shopping -- my first excursion involving stores since my accident. It was nice to spend an afternoon together and away from the house. Tuesday and Wednesday were job interviews followed by more shopping. Thursday boy did the laundromat and some errands while I worked on budget stuff. Friday we left the house around 11:30 and drove to Lawrence for shopping, lunch with kim (the girl mentioned above), more shopping, and boy did some research into poetry open mics there. Came home just before 7pm and boy went to his meeting. Then we went out again to meet kim for "breakfast"/snacks at 10pm. That was our latest night up, let alone out, since we arrived in Kansas.

This morning I woke up and watched a few movies on IFC and the Sundance channels. boy is making bread and I'm catching up here and via emails. It's supposedly 65 degrees F outside. If boy weren't doing bread, we'd be out at a park enjoying the unseasonable warmth.
