I am going to start filtering some of my more private musings. Since blogger does not have a tool for that, you will need to visit my Live Journal and ask to be friended there. I will continue to post Daily Gratitude and other subjects here.

Kansas City Adventure -- overview

@ 12:22
Rather than saying that we were going on an overnight trip to Kansas City Pride Festival, boy and I have been looking forward to our "adventure" for several weeks. The good thing about an adventure is that 1) you can't get "lost," 2) you don't get upset if plans don't work out quite the way you expected, and 3) by being open to the energy of exploration, you make cool discoveries and have amazing moments of synchronicity. I'm going to post several pieces of the trip, but they will address specific events/themes.
The chronological account follows. We packed, stopped at walhell for a few items, and were on the road to KC by 12:30pm on Sunday.
We arrived in KC and went directly to B&H's to visit and drop off our stuff. Around 3:30pm they left for a dance class & I rested. boy read & did some restaurant research online.
At 5:15 we met up with J for dinner. The restaurant we wanted to eat at was closed, so we went to Uno's instead. We then followed J to the Liberty Memorial and wandered around the Pride Festival for awhile. boy got new sunglasses and I got a t-shirt. We saw a cool band called Jeremy's Box and some cute drag kings. The main attraction was RuPaul -- who somehow managed to perform EARLY instead of on "gay standard time."
After RuPaul, J went home and boy & I went to check out the local "leather" bar. Interesting, but not much actual leather. Too many stairs for someone with a bad ankle who'd been walking around a festival for hours. Back to H&B's where we chatted a bit with H, unwound, had great sex, and slept.
Up early to breakfast & left around 9:15. Drove around KC, stopped near the river. Drove around some more. Found a nice coffee shop. Made art. Shared art. Met an angel/messenger. Browsed a Paper Source for inspiration and bought a few items for collage & bookmaking.
Went to a yummy vegetarian restaurant and had an incredible meal. Browsed their bookshop & noted several books to find later. Went searching for a "new age" store we'd passed the night before. Found it and it wasn't very good, but next door was a "center" that had better energy and a great herb store. Went searching for another "new age" bookstore and found it. Much better energy and books. Chatted with the clerk, bought a few books, admired some art. Made note of the neighborhood to explore further. Realized that I'd forgotten the directions or even address for Whole Foods, but we set off to find it using our memory and our map. After a few upsets, made it to the store and did a stock up before heading home. We left Overland Park around 6pm and made it back to Topeka a little after 7pm. After a quick errand for my sister, we got home and crashed with an evening of TV and sleep. We're slowly unpacking purchases and stuff as we need them today.
